This multi award-winning author, singer song-writer and political activist rose to fame as lead singer of the Boomtown Rats. He later co-founded Band Aid which raised millions for the people of Ethiopia and opened the eyes of those unaware of suffering of others around the world. He has campaigned for the rights of Single Fathers and he adopted his ex-wife Paula Yate’s young daughter, who she’d had with singer Michael Hutchence, following Paula’s fatal drug overdose.

The King of Latin Pop, who has sold 70 million records worldwide, is doting father to four young children including Matteo and Valentino who he had by surrogate in 2008. A few years later he married Syrian artist Jwan and they had two more children to add to the brood called Lucia and Renn. Lucia is not a fan of Ricky’s singing he says. ‘There are more embryos frozen’ says Ricky who, being one of 34 grandchildren, has always said he is keen to add more to his clan.
